Genetic Counseling
The genetic counselling process at Mirror Gene involves two main steps: pre-test and post-test counselling.
Pre-test Counselling
The genetic counselling process begins with a comprehensive review of your personal and family health history, followed by an assessment of your genetic risks. This stage involves a discussion about the specific test, its reliability, the benefits and limitations of the test, and potential outcomes. The goal is to equip you with the information you need to make an informed decision about testing.
Post-test Counselling
Post-test counselling occurs after the genetic test results have been received. This session provides an opportunity to discuss the results, what they mean for you and your family, and any next steps or follow-up actions that may be recommended. At Mirror Gene, we provide supportive counselling to help you cope with any emotional or psychological impact that may arise from the test results
What to Expect in a Session
In a session, you can expect a non-judgmental and supportive environment. We will discuss your health history, explain the purpose and process of genetic testing, and help you understand your risks and options. Our goal is to empower you with knowledge and support your decision-making process.
